Renaming Report Objects

TABLE OF CONTENTS

In Analytics, you are able to rename both attributes and metrics in the grid of a report. You may want to change the names so that the names of report objects match WorkFlows terminology. Analytics terminology differs from WorkFlows terminology because each attribute in Analytics must have a unique name. Also, the name of an attribute reflects which data table the attribute came from. For example, in circulation reports, all attributes start with "Trans Stat" to indicate these attributes came from the Trans Stat data table.

There are three places to change the name of a report object: "Data" tab drop-down menu, "Data" toolbar, or right-click on the column/row header of the attribute you want to rename.

For an example, objects are going to be renamed in the grid below:

Rename report objects from the "Data" tab

  1. Select the "Data" tab.

  2. Click here to access the drop-down menu.

  3. From the drop-down menu, select "Rename…".

  4. The "Rename Objects" window will open. Select the grid object you want to rename. (You can only rename report objects if they are currently on the grid).

  5. In the "Name" field, type the new name for the report object.

  6. Click the "OK" button.

Rename report objects from the "Data" toolbar
